What's the reason Bernie Madoff isn't in jail after stealing 50 billion?

Just wondering is it race,money or connections because I know if a normal person stills a few bucks he is going to not pass go and strait to jail.
 
With the kind of money he has I expect him to die of old age before he goes to jail as Ken Lay did.
 
Money and power can get you bailed out of just about anything. I hope they convict this guy and he spends his golden years behind bars!
 
When everything is said and done he and his sons will be spending a lot of time in Leavenworth. He needs to flee now!!!!
 
He is out on bail. But he will be going to jail after the trial:) I bet he has a lot of people that hate him.
