I currently have a 2002 Mazda Protege, and it's great, but I know I'll need to get a new car in a year or two. That car's out of production. I'm interested in a small, cheap sedan with low maintenance costs and decent gas mileage. I don't want a hybrid because my mechanic, who's awesome, doesn't know much about servicing them.
Which Toyota and Honda models give you the best bang for your buck? And I've heard good things about the Chevy Aveo, but I'm leery of getting a GM car.
