Whats the importance of sex education?!?

Is it really THAT important? or THAT effective?

All views are appreciated.

Personally, I think there is no need of it in public schools, sometimes its this sex ed which encourage children with the need to 'experiment' with sexuality.

I think a child should be informed about sex from his/her parents [ideal conditions] like as was for me.
 
Well if you look at areas that do have extensive sex ed in schools compared to areas that don't you do in deed see a very big difference.

Being ignorant to sex/STD ect..doesn't make it go away
