Whats the IMA WARRANTY ON THE 2004 HONDA CIVIC hybrid for california? And is the warranty transferable?
My most major concern is the battery what would be the cost if when does the warranty run out to replace this battery?Im am looking for this car to last 5 yrs while im in college.
Im looking to purchase a 2004 honda civivc hyndrid with 34,000 mile for 10 grand is this a good deal?

the warranty for the IMA motor and most other items is 8 years or 80,000 miles. the battery is also covered under the 8/80 coverage. the warranty applies to the car and not to the owner so it doesn't matter if you are the first or fifth owner, if the car is under 8/80,000 miles the car is covered. Some companies like Hyundai, Kia and Mitsubishi limit their 10year powertrain warranties to the original owner only but the IMA is an emission system component and subject to federal emissions warrranty requirements so the warranty stays with the car when it is sold.

there was an extension on the battery warranty for the Insight but it did not apply to the Civic of those years.

the price is relative; you can buy the new Insight for just over 20k. 10k for the 2004 Civic is a fair price but not a great price. the average price of a non-hybrid Civic of that year is only about $5000. The Civic has a smoother ride than the new Insight. If you are into leases, honda has a special lease deal on the new Insight through the beginning of November. I'm looking at leasing the Insight and buying it at the end of the lease.

Can't help you on the price of the battery as they are exchange units. just call a Honda dealer and tell them you have a 2004 Civic Hybrid and you need to replace the battery and ask them how much.

Hope that helps
