Well, I've just got to know: did you play baseball with the boys with your hair piled under your hat? :)

My parents could not find a name to go with my last name. They just went through the baby name books and tried to find something that fit.

My mom wanted my initials to be KC because she imagined I would be a tomboy playing baseball with the boys with my hair piled under my hat.

I love the stories about everyone's names! :group_hug: What a great thread idea.

My first name is Jussara, I think my mom just liked it and everyone else in the family liked it too, hehehe :D , and I love it too

I think they wanted to name me Stephanie but changed their minds at the last minute. I don't know the reason why  but I'm glad, because I prefer this name to Stephanie. :)

Its just an uncommon purely Iranian name used in a lot of poems and songs my dad listened to that both sides of my family (from different cities in Iran) can pronounce well

Also, ... it rhymes with my surname, a lot of people give credit to my parents for their creativity

my mom just thought it was a pretty name. I think she secretly liked it because she's got a 9-letter name, and felt that she should pass on freaking long names.

MariaElena.
The Maria part is from my mom's mom, and the Elena part is from my dad's mom. People don't usually know how to pronouce Elena,so they always call me Maria.

My mum liked Matthew the most, my dad liked my middle name the most, my mum got her way.

Nothing religious about the choice of Matt, just a nice name she though. I prefer my middle though.

I think I was named something else first but then my parents suddenly changed their mind and went with the second choice.

My mother wanted to name me after her sister but she didn't really like her sister's name, so she gave me her sister's nickname which her sister took from a cartoon character. So I guess you could say I was named after a cartoon.

Why did your parents name you that? Was it because of a relative? Or they just really liked the name they gave you?
