What's the different between a symphony, a dance & an opera ?

i refer to every orchestrated music as "symphony", i also say for example : that opera includes good symphonies, or that dance fits with that symphony...so why isn't a dance called symphony while no one is dancing...or an opera called symphony while you're not in the opera house...can someone explain the differences...
