What's the difference between salsa and pico de gallo?

My thoughts

I always thought pico de gallo was fresh ingredients and if the mixture was cooked/processed then we have salsa.

I'm starting to get the sense that I'm wrong on that. Are they really two names for the same thing?

they're pretty similar, except that pico de gallo has more cilantro than salsa. It also usually has less liquid than a salsa, and can therefore be used like a topping, much like how you would use lettuce and tomato. Both can be eaten the traditional way with chips though. My local Mexican restaurant puts it out with fresh chips as an appetizer.

Hi, I live in Puebla, Mexico, my mom cook pico de gallo and salsa, the difference is :

Pico de Gallo: tomatoes, onion, cilantro, Chile and cilantro, you dont use water, you dont use the mixeur only cut the tomatoes, onion, chlile, and cilantro
Salsa: you use tomatoes, Chile, onion, water and garlic and use the mixeur
