what's the difference between professionalism and civility?

One of the managers where I work is a jerk. He's impolite, uncommunicative, critical, and never treats anyone like they're worth the time of day. He's just an all around A**hole. I was talking to one of my co-workers about how difficult it is to work with him and I was having a hard time explaining that while this manager is professional in the workplace, he lacks civility. Then the debate arose about what the difference was between the two. I know there's a difference but I could not find the words to effectively explain it.

So what do you think? Professionalism vs. Civility. How can I explain that there's a difference to my co-worker?
