What's the difference between a regular college and a medical college?

to be a pediatrician, i know you need 4 years of college, 4 years of med college, and 3 years of residency.

how can i tell which colleges are regular colleges and which are medical colleges?

i'm sorry if this is an obvious question to ask, but i don't know.

for example, what's the difference between Harvard University and Harvard Medical School?
 
Harvard University includes Harvard Med school, as well as Harvard Law and Harvard College and many other 'schools' that make up a university. You'll be applying to the undergraduate program first, not the medical school. Most med schools are at tached to universities offering undergraduate schools as well.
