I've been checking out some mods lately, but some "mods" look so well crafted and managed that some people refer to them as "standalone". Example: a replica (I assume build from scratch) of the game C&C: Renegade is in the works named Renegade X. Though Renegade X's models are based on it's original, they look like they have been rebuild. Regardless Renegade X being based on the concept of the old, it does use the Unreal Engine 3 engine, while the original C&C: Renegade uses the W3D (Westwood 3D) engine.
My questions are then; where is Renegade X a Mod from? Unreal 3, C&C Renegade, or is it "Standalone"?And if it is Standalone, what does it make to gain that status? How do I know if it's a Mod or a Standalone?
Maybe a trailer makes more sense in what I'm trying to ask: http://www.moddb.com/mods/renegade-x/videos/renegadex-gameplay-teaser
Best answer gets of course 5 stars and a big thank you for your time. /L1b3rta
