The onion plants that are sold at the pet store are aquatic plants. If you went and got an onion out of your yard and kept is submerged under water it would end up dieing.
the petstore for your fish? i want to add some live plants to my fish tank and i saw onions at the pet store so is there any reason why i couldn't find some in my yard that don't have yard chemicals on them.would i need to put them in pots or could they just survive in the gravel
Thai onion bulbs (Crinum thaianum) aren't actually an onion at all, they belong to the Lily family. These are an aquatic species and are very different to the onions intended for human consumption.
