What's The Cut-Off Age To Make It In The Music Industry?

at what point are you 'too old' to make it as a rockstar or rap star? I'm 22, so I feel I've got about 6 more years to make it. I'd say when you turn 29 is when youre officially too old to make it. Then again I'm sure there are many, many musicians that lie about their age.
 
You're never to old. Then again, is all you dream of success and money? If so, can I ask why? Why not do it for love and passion why do it because you want to be walking red carpets, dating models and driving flashy cars? I understand that there's a certain point where your hobby crosses a line and becomes your career therefore you need to make money from it somehow, nothing wrong with making money from it and if you can make money of something you love then great but as long as making the money is secondary and making the music is primary.

Anyway, like I say, you're never to old. I mean if you really are in it for the money just look at the british x-factor, susan boyle has to be about fifty or something. Yet she still managed to break the beatles record.

I agree, there is no age limit in reality. In your mind if you think around 30 is too old then probably for you, it is.

I guess by using the word 'star' that would narrow it down quite a lot but if the musician is doing something they are satisfied with and it happens to be a sound that folks find interesting.... well then, no limits.

What you are seeing and calling a 'star' in most cases is in reality a commercial product who's potential to make large amounts of money as been spotted by either a record company or an individual so in this sense, I guess young is more marketable than someone in their 40's maybe.

Go for it, you still have about 8 years...

Good luck, but always remeraber to do what you want and not what you think someone else might want...

To start make a living as a rocker or raper? You can never be to old. If you're good enough you can find your niche, and make a decent living off of that.

To become famous, then have radio stations play your song three or four times an hour, then be on the cover of seemingly every magazine at once, then make one of the worst albums in history, then be hated by genuine music lovers? Yeah, I'd say 29 is about right.
