What's the current record for maximum tps with ASP.NET/SQL Server?

http://sqlblog.com/blogs/paul_nielsen/archive/2007/12/12/10-lessons-from-35k-tps.aspx has an article from 3 years ago where he discussed a case where they were running 35k transactions per second.

Does anybody know if other companies have exceeded this amount and by how much? Is there a theoretical limit?
