Since 1884 both are same company
Yamaha were making musical instruments long before the internal combustion engine was invented. Right after WW2 they saw an opportunity to use their metalworking skills in another money-making field.

they have the same parent company. In Japan it's common for one company to make various different products for different markets. My friend had a Mitsubishi television when we were kids. Yamaha is in the business of business, and they setup a division of their company to meet any consumer demand that will make them a profit.
