What's the best sub $400 bicycle (road or hybrid) you can buy?

Apparently bikes are a little more expensive then when I was 12. Any ideas on a brand or model either a road bike or hybrid that could run me less then 400-500. I have an eddy's bike shop and a performance bikes near my house but don't have much of a clue.
 
Visit those stores and any bike shops in you area. Most shops will have a under $400 hybrid bike.

well i dont know about any for under 400 but i know there is a really nice specialized(thats the brand name) for 420, it gives you the option to change the shocks stiffness for different terrain, its made with quality parts, and has an awesome tire that is like a road tire in the middle but the outside is like a mountain bike tire, but the mountain bike tire wont affect the ride in a city or anything, only when the terrain is bad enough for it to need it... its really cool, check it out , this website says its $440 but I saw one for $420 https://shop.sunrisecyclery.com/item/41762
 
this guy makes bikes out of bamboo... they are really light and absorb vibrations and don't break.... I dont know the price but that would be the best bike I know
