Has anyone found a good online or desktop TV Guide?

I've used Zap2it and the likes and they just aren't fast enough.

I use zap2it as well. It's usually not overly slow. I view all 150+ channels for 6 hours at a time and it usually takes about 5-10 secs to load. If anything, its problem is that it's not working sometimes.

Sometime last week, they seem to have stopped allowing you to display all channels at one time (max 50 now).

There are opensource desktop solutions available, but they're still in pre-beta and I still prefer zap2it (they actually use zap2it data and requires you to create an account at labs.zap2it.com, but can download a week's worth at a time). Search for freeguide and tvguide at sourceforge.net.

Could try Yahoo! tv listings site... http://tv.yahoo.com/grid/

The Yahoo! grid just gives channel names instead of loading logos like zap2it and is fairly fast. I do agree that zap2it really shows down in the evening.

I moved this into the general discussion so it would be seen by more people.

Here's the thing I would like to see; one that is customizable to the extent that I can see what is showing on US as well as Canadian programming. For example, being able to see TSN and ESPN side by side. Anybody know of such a site?

You can view listings for Starchoice on Yahoo? I can only see cable companies (tried Vancouver and Toronto postal codes). If you know how to get BEV listings to show up, please let me know. Thanks!

Zap2It has started being very slow for me. Maybe the last couple of weeks or so. Getting the first access to the site is particularly slow, ten to 30 seconds or more, and then additional pages are a little faster but still slower than it used to be a month ago.

I have gotten into the habit of opening a second browser window and doing something else while waiting for Zap2It to load the first page. If it gets slower I will have to give it up.

Hi all,

Wondering what's the best online TV guide site (URL) that people are using in Ontario, Toronto Rogers specifically? I don't have a PVR yet, so I don't have access to that, but I do have a PS3 which has a nifty web browser, I'd like to surf on the projector downstairs when I'm looking for something to watch, preferably some site that doesn't ask you to enter to many bits of information (typing on the PS3 is a pain) but some thing that I can bookmark and return to easily.

Thanks,
Wm

zap2it seems to work the best for me. You are able to put in your postal code and choose the service you are subscribed to.

The only issue with the site is it is rather slow loading at times.

I third zap2it.
The ads are annoying (when they go fullscreen)
but it has a complete list of antenna channels for me, no one else did (that I have found.)

I used to use zap2it all the time, then suddenly it started freezing on me. Or more like it's excruciatingly slow. It's when I go to scroll that it takes about 10 seconds if not longer to scroll, instead of doing it instantaneously. It only does it on their TV Listings pages, not their other pages.

Is there a setting on my computer that's making it move so slowly? Seems odd that it would suddenly start doing it when it didn't before. Thanks for any help.

Edit: I meant to ask, too, whether anyone else has had this problem recently. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. Mine is still doing it. Must be a setting I have somewhere, but I can't find what it is.
