What's the best folding bike on the market, and what makes it so?

How do you judge a good folding bike from a poor one. It seems with the extra components involved in folding it, there would be a lot more to possibly go wrong. Also, I'm more than 6 feet tall, so I need one that gets pretty big.
Commuting and travel. I hate rental bikes (especially at beaches). Also, there are many buses here that don't have a bike rack.
