Whats the best engine to swap on 1986 toyota mr2?

I would like to make my mr2 faster? Since the economy is not helping out. I wanna know should I just change my headers, intake and muffler Just to add a BIT kick on my mr2? Or should I swap engine since its past 200k anyways. And what engine that is the easiest upgrade for this car without spending that much. AS much as possible I wanna stick with NA power but if you guys think adding a turbo or sc will kick some serious ass. Well I kinda figure out it will also kick my wallets ass :D any idea suggestions is a big help. Thanks for reading my long question. And oh yeah. Im not a full time racer or something. I just dont wanna look like a turtle on a street
 
i had an 89 MR2 N/A, i was in your same shoes it was slow and kept getting spanked by integra's and other cars. i put a weapon r air intake, i put an msd ignition and i chipped it with JET Chips oh and i put a double slip clutch. ill be honest it was still slow.lol the air intake design that i got was retarded because it made the filter go in the trunk which makes no sense because no air back there and the MSD actually made it Rev faster, but overall its slow. i ended up buying a 99 integra GSR and i put a turbo in it. so if you cant beat them join them.lol i loved by MR2 though dont get me wrong, it was red and a T-Top loved it. one thing you could do is swap the engine with the 4AGE Z which is the supercharged MR2, that one has 145HP. that car is hard to work on. to put headers its a hard job. well sorry for my long answer, if it was an answer i guess i just miss my mr2. to bad i got t boned and totaled. sucked well good luck
