Ok, I suppose I'm not your typical university student. So any tech advice would be REALLY useful. I am on a very tight budget for the specs I need...

I'm a musician, so I need a huge hard drive (I'm thinking at least 500 GB? Right now i have a 120 internal and a 750 external, and well... I have about 120 GB left...) I record everything I learn/write, so anything that has a good recording interface would be absolutely awesome, but not necessary. Furthermore, I need to run programs such as SIbelius, ScoreWriter, and Finale (notation software). I need a fairly decent computer to have several of these applications open at once, as well as pretty damn good speakers.

At this point, size is not an issue.

I'm studying Biochemistry and Math... so I need to be able to run fairly involved programs. As well as Office 2007 Professional/Ultimate.

I'm also kind of a huge fan of TV, Movies, and the Sims 3... but a gaming experience beyond the Sims is way too much!

My dilemma is that I've always had two computers: a Mac for music and a PC for school. Now I can't afford a Mac with decent enough specs to run all of this and a big enough hard drive to split between Mac and PC. Please spare me the OS debate; I see the pros and cons of both :) I can no longer afford both a Mac and a PC.

My budget is around $1000, MAYBE stretched to $1500... I feel like I'm describing an impossible computer...

ANY incite would be awesome!
