What's the best Cinema you've been to?

I must say many cinemas now are more complexes than anything else. Although, there are also some pretty sorry excuses out there; run down, dirty places that obviously have a budget problem.

My fave cinema is VUE in Bolton. Large seats, adjustable arm rests, starbucks, clean...just about everything you want from a cinema.

Whats the best/worst cinema you have ever been to?

the worst cinema ive ever been to is

the Odeon in York, it neeRAB some major referbishments. the leg room is rediculous (about 30 cm-if that ), thre is only 1 big screen and only two other small one which ar e about the size of my tv in my room (32"). plus their is about seven different types of seat (cos they cant afford a set of the same ones) and the place is just a complete dump!!!
im not trying to give york a bad name by the way cos i live there

plus the 'O' is missing off of Odeon outside on the wall

the best i would have to say would be one i went to in Chicago - pure class all around you - you feel like royalty!!!

cheers, anyone else???

Best, the Orpheus in Henleaze, Bristol. Little place, but very friendly, comfy and clean. And they show decent films for a long time (it was, after a week, the only place to see Gosford Park and Donnie Darko in Bristol).

Worst... any multiplexes. Sorry, but they are just souless.

My front room :p (now i've finished installling the a projector).

Air conditioned - comfortable seating - free drinks - alcohol - free food - pause movie when i want a pee - options of lounging around nekkid (although i think thats also prolly OK at the Deal cinema close by) :D

Air conditioning? Naked? You'll have someone's eye out!

Do you really prefer being at home to the cinema? I've gotta say, i do like the feeling of going to the cinema (particularly during summer, when you go in and it's light, and come out when it's dark).

well i ditch my local cinema to drive 20 mines to the Showcase just outside leeRAB and its pretty good.

but the best one i have been to is the one at Universal Studios in Florida :D

OMG! That sounRAB fantastic - we need that sort of thing in the UK (and by UK I don't mean London or the South East if you know what i mean ;))

Warner Bros cinemas (sorry, Vue heh heh) are fantastic cinemas. Does every vue cinema have a foyer as coool as the one in Newcastle under lyme? Theres a massive star which shines different colours and it rocks!

It was only opened like 3 years ago! :p
How do you mean it is going downhill? The people that visit, or the standarRAB? - I went last week and it was a great day out, not teinted by the cinema's standarRAB in any way!
I will check out the "AMC"... Is this near the "UCG" ?

When the Warner Village, Valley Park, Croydon opened in about 1995 I thought it was the most magical place I had ever been to. The staff were quick and friendly and the auditoriums were perfect but since then the world of Cinema has changed. There is now another Warner Village (Vue) In croydon, In the Grants entertainment complex (Croydon's answer to Star City) which is even better and has shunted the other one into minority status. It's only a 5 minute tram ride away and it is usually free of yobos wereas the Grant's one is usually packed with anyone and everyone who has gone shopping on the high street.
Odeons have really improved over the past few years. almost all I've been to have been renovated and those that haven't have been relocated (eg. Odeon Wimbledon). The staff however aren't usually very welcoming.
The one gripe I have about cinemas is the increasing frequency of Ice Blast machines not working. I love Ice Blast. At Butlins they have every flavour but at the cinema they only have blue raspberry and cherry and they usually don't work.
