What's the best camera for pop culture photography?

Since Christmas is coming up, I'm asking my parents for a professional camera. I'm a pop culture photographer, so I need a camera I can ran around with and hold at awkward angles, etc. So nothing big and chunky. I'm also considered clumsy, so something that won't take bad damage when dropped. Thanks!
 
I'm clumsy too so I always use the strap. You may think it's geeky but trust me, it will save your camera a lot of wear and tear.

As for the best, check out the Cannons, they make a good all purpose camera.
