What's so compelling about liking things that are played on the radio?

I actually don't get it. Is it just because people like to conform(btw I'm not one of these 'indie' kids)?
MOST of the stuff I hear on the radio is something that has been auto tuned and a lot of the time the singer can't actually sing.
