What's secondary education like in Korea?

I'm just curious because my Korean class mates back in High School usually say that academic achievement is always the no. 1 goal for most students in Korea.

What's really the main difference between the United States and Korean system besides the language of instruction?

I don't mind detailed answers, just don't make it overly long.

omg its like hell. if you dont get accepted by ivy level colleges then you study for another year (je su seng) or another year or another or another until you give up or get accepted. math in us is usually calc as highest. math in korea is ap calc bc plus logics and problem solving that will eat your brain. other subjects? its elective in us but mandatory in korea. Some students suicide because they didnt get a good report card (dropped to 7th in rank from 4th in school). again, its HELL of HELL of CENTER of HELL
