What's my first step to becoming a Financial Advisor in Canada?

I am actively seeking a career change into the Financial Services industry in Canada, preferably in the capacity of a financial or investment advisor.

A bit about me:

I have an honors bachelor's degree in recreation and tourism management (not a business degree, but some business focus). I have been working in the hospitality industry for the past 10 years and have 4 years of operational management experience within world-class resorts. Prior to hotels, I was a Sales and Marketing Manager for a large nightclub and concert hall and have a lot of serving and bar experience. Those who know me best would describe me as a true "people-person" and a natural salesman ... You might say, I have the "Gift of the Gab".

I have sent my resume to a few banks and brokerage firms, but haven't heard anything. I'm pretty confident that I'll hit the nail on the head once I get a face to face interview, but since I do not have direct experience in financial services, I am worried they aren't getting past my cover letter.

I'm thinking about taking the Canadian Securities Course to add some relevant training to my resume. Would it be worthwhile for me to take the CSC, or am I wasting my $$ because I don't have the right foundation to begin with? Is there anything else I should look into instead of, or in addition to the CSC? I'd rather not start in an entry level position such as a bank teller or something similar. I assume that my years of management and customer service experience must be worth something in the realm of transferable skills.

Your advice is appreciated!
