What's more important: your education or values? I'm torn and confused?

I grew up in a LIBERAL Catholic family - went to Catholic grade school and high school. We're traditional in a sense but aren't condemned if we don't follow everything rule by rule. We were taught special values of the catholic church but it's up to us to decide what we believe in. I never thought much about it growing up but now that I'm older, i'm not so much "religious" but spirtual and if it's anything I got fr. my religion, it's a personal relationship and faith in God tht I prefer to keep private.

For the past 5 yrs I've been TRYING hard to get into a nursing major - i have all the required classes (w. an associate's), a nursing assistant license and worked as one for 3 yrs, volunteered at our state hospital for 2 yrs, and more. I tried universities, local community colleges MORE THAN ONCE but it's too competitive. I applied and got accpted at a local christian university tht has a NON-COMPETITIVE nursing program - all I have to do is take req. religion classes for a yr (and raise up human a&P) and I'm in. WELL, here's the shocker. I went to orientation and came back upset and crying. I have nothing against christians or any religion but i learned that my NOW school is full of EXTREME and HARDCORE Christians. We just believe in different things and it's scaring me. The activity director said they condemn homosexuality and believe it came from child abuse but if they find Jesus, they will be healed. WHAT??!!!! Hearing that made my jaw dropped. Sure, the pope doesn't believe in "gay marriage" but I know I (and Catholics living here) would be shocked to hear that as well. I'm a good girl -i'm a homebody, only have 1 drink on occassion, and know my limits but after hearing wht they believe, they made me seem like a slut! As a member of the school, you're not allowed to look at porn, no sex, no clubs/bars, or DANCING (they only allow line dancing). And if you do any of those things, you're a "bad person". Geez, I'm still a virgin (by choice) but if people wanna have sex, go right ahead...you're not going to hell; humans need intimacy. And people talk very "Godly" all the time - "oh thank our lord jesus that the sun is rising." What?!! I've gone to Catholic school since i was 8 and no one was EVER like that; we committ "sins" all the time if we drink, look at porn, or have sex.

I'm just in shock and it's not "me". I'm not saying they're wrong but it's just umcomfortable for me. I don't know what to do. Going to that school is my last real option for nursing. I could always take the req religion and transfer to our local private (catholic) university in the city and try nursing there again...at least they're more accepting. (gays work there too)

What do you think?
Or should i just stick it out? The other private university it popular/competitive. But I will work sooo hard just to get out of this school and get high grades just to be accepted. GEEZ, and before I thought Catholics were the "crazy" ones.
I feel sorry for the guys, esp. No porn?? :( it's like telling a girl she can't watch her chick flicks :(

That is a hard decision i mean when you are an educated person than you can always see the flaws that has been taught to since childhood. Some values today can't be used in modern day society because it just doesn't make sense. Sometimes you should just have to think for yourself.

but on the other hand there are some values that are good and you could apply it to your everyday life, you grew up in an catholic environment and there is values that you learned that you can take with you like the golden rule " do unto other as you would like people doing unto you" so it all just depends.
