Im really curious.Im currently living in Central New York, but I've visited Manhattan quite a few times. I really love it there. My main goal would to be attend a nice college in that area & hopefully be able to spend a good few years there. So these are my few questions:How expensive is it?:Anyone know of some good colleges to attend in NYC?:If I ever plan to stay there permantely, (Because, at the moment, I really would like to keep that as a possibility) do you think it'd be an okay place to have a relationship, or raise children?:Is a car really necessary?:Does living there feel like home? Or just being a tourist?:Thanks, everyone.

I am a student living in East Harlem so I can only really tell you about my neighborhoodi pay $1300/mo for my 1br apt with heat and hot water includedi have my car here but im bring it back to my moms house in Jersey b/c it's annoying to find parking and I never really use it b/c the subway and bus are usually much fastera lot of ppl raise children here but I personally wouldn't b/c there are a lot of safety issues. If you are in college tho i wouldn't worry about kidsmy neighborhood feels like home, there are very few tourists up here. It may not be the nicest but I like it up here b/c you do get a neighborhood feel, all the guys working at the bodegas know me by name, I'm near Central Park, it's still cheaper up here (even groceries are cheaper) and there are a lot of police patrolling all the time so you don't have to worry too much about crime. The only area I would avoid for the touristy thing is Midtown (30s - 50s).there are a ot of colleges in ny so i guess it depends on how much you want to spend, what school you can get in to and what you want to major in. I was going to Parsons for photography but it was too expensive.
