What's it like to have sex during her period?

My girlfriend is going to be getting her period, and we'd like to know what it is like to have sex during this time. We already know that there will be a mess so we have a black towel and a diaphram and plan on doing it in the shower the first time. So my questions are"

What should I expect for this first time (out of the shower)?
Will It be really disgusting and get all over the place, or will it be ok if it's wiped off every so often?
What positions should be avoided?
Is cleanup easy?
Is there a way without using a diaphram to lesson the flow?
My girlfriend also says that being in water (like a pool) stops the flow, is this true and would it make it easier?
Does it feel different?

i haven't done anything sexual on my period. im too terrified of what my husband would have thought of me lol.

but i would just expect a little blood. a little towel and do it missionary as other positions would probably be really painful because of her cramps. be gentle though.
 
haha well i've had sex while on my period and it feels exactly the same theres no difference and ya i didn't bleed that much like all you need is a like two wipes one for him and one for you. like its not disgusting my boyfriend didn't even care and no it doesn't get everywhere like it didn't even get on the sheets. and if you do it in the shower you can't even tell.
and positions to avoid would be girl on top i would assume

being in the water does NOT!!! stop the flow. omg she can't possibly think that. if you do it in the shower blood will run down your legs so you should do it missionary with towelles under her. good luck!
