Whats it like seeing a band live?

So I'm going to see Escape the fate soon. They're not my favourite band by far, but I thought it would be best to start out seeing a band thats not too heavy as my first concert.
Soooo... whats it like?
Does it get really rough?
What should I know? How should I prepare?
