What's it called when your a scientist but you study ancient history?

that's what i want to major in and i'm pretty sure you can be a scientist and go to sites like egypt and try to crack codes and mysteries but i'm not sure what it's called and i want to know that way when i'm looking at colleges i will know what i need to get that job and even qualify for it please and thanks - roxy
