whats housing at Camp Pendleton CA like?

I'm moving soon and am debating whether to live on base or not. i've heard on base housing depends on where you're at. So does anyone know what its like at Camp Pendelton?? Thanks!
 
Camp Pendleton was established prior to WW2 to train Marines and others for combat, mostly in the Pacific. Lots of barracks were built at that time and some of them still exist but the majority of the housing is very modern and comfortable. There is a large mall on base and lots of shops and stores. There is a wonderful beach and lots of things to do. It is a great place to live and is good for raising a family.
 
THE BASE HOUSING IS NOT THAT NICE. I LIVED THERE FOR A FEW YEARS BECAUSE I WAS MARRIED. WE ENDED UP MOVING OUT TO OCEANSIDE WHICH WAS WAY BETTER. TAKE IT FROM ME, IT GETS OLD BEING AROUND MARINES ALL DAY, ESPECIALLY FOR YOUR HUSBAND. HE'S GOING TO WANT A BREAK. IF YOU HAVE TO LIVE ON BASE, MAINSIDE I THINK WAS THE BEST OUT OF THE HOUSING.
