I have had this beta fish for almost 9 months now and he has been perfectly healthy and happy living in a 1 gallon still water tank, I've just taken him on a bus trip (which he's been on several since I live at college but will often go home for long periods of time, too long to leave him without food) and he seemed to be doing fine the whole time, at the very end of the trip I wasn't holding him and then the bus lurched and probably made him hit the side of the container that he was in. Last night (when that happened) he was having a hard time swimming upright, but then he seemed to recover I was able to feed him and he ate just fine, this morning he also seemed fine and again he ate with no problems. About an hour ago I put him into a new tank, but this one has a filter and aeration system in it, he seems to be breathing just fine, but now it seems like he can't help from floating to the top of the tank, and it's causing him to really struggle. Is this behavior to be expected when transfering to such a new environment? or is this a result from the bus trip last night that seems to be coming back to him? Please help I'm quite attached to this fish he's the only pet I have in my dorm room and I've had him for quite a while.
by the way the filter is not too strong for him, he's not getting pulled into it or anything, he's just floating to the top.
