What's going on in the U.S. right now?

I have to do a school video project on something thats going on right now in the U.S. for instance, the whole gay marraige thing in california. Last year someone did one on the issue of abortion. In my video i have to show both sides of the argument and be unbiased. I can choose any current U.S. issue that i want. What are some ideas? I'm drawing a blank here.
