What's cheaper to maintain, a Mazda-3 Sport, or a PORSCHE Boxster, and Why?

I just want something sporty, something fun to drive on the corners at rather high speeds, and my neighbour has a new Mazda-3. I have test driven his car and it is so much more fun than my 9 year old Toyota Corolla. But my brother-in-law tells me that I should get a used Porsche Boxster for the same price as a new Mazda-3. Then I did some research that shows that owning a Porsche is relatively expensive. I make about $30,000 a year and I cannot afford to pay for maintenance, in fact all I can really afford is just the cheap oil changes at the local Jiffy-Lube. My old Corolla has need only that and I've been happy with such a low cost of ownership.

Now that I am thinking of buying a used Boxster, would I be facing any rather large costs of maintenance? How much does an oil change cost on those cars? (more than $20 ? ). And are they as reliable and economical as a Corolla?

And what about the Mazda-3? How would it's reliablility and cost of ownership compare to the Porsche and the Toyota Corolla?

If the Boxster is more expensive then forget it. If the Mazda-3 is similar to the Corolla, then I will get that car instead.

Thanks for everyone's help, I really appreciate all of your advice.
Have a nice day !

If you're maintaining, then they'll end up costing about the same.

But if you're having to do repairs because you didn't maintain properly, the Porsche will cost exponentially more.

Think of it like this: Does it cost more to clean a mansion, or a normal house?

It's about the same. But if you have to fix something on the mansion, it's almost guaranteed to cost a whole lot more.
