Whats being a Lawyer like?

Say i were a Lawyer for a private company? OR I worked for the local government?

I just wondered how it works. What hours? Do Lawyers work 'On call'?

Do they have thier own desks or offices? And how many cases might they work on at once? I really dont get how it works?
