What's artificial insemination like?

My boyfriend and I want kids, but he's sterile. He suggested adoption and artificial insemination. I'm adopted so I understand how that whole process is. I'm thinking about artificial insemination because I want to get pregnant.. Get the full experience. I just want to know what it's like.
