What's an interesting American history topic I can write a report on?

It's a report for a sophomore history class. It has to be about a person or event, and it's only supposed to be 6 paragraphs or less, so nothing to broad like any wars or the depression or anything too big. And something interesting too. It can also be anytime period, but think AMERICAN history. It should be something i can have an opinion on too, because our teacher's taking some reports from the class so we can have a class debate on it.
