I'm a Black Belt in Karate Do
I'm a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
and I have Krav Maga training.
But even though I go to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training 5 days a week, I try not people I do this. Every time the subject comes up of me practicing martial arts, people give me this look of disbelief, and tell me I don't look like someone who practices martial arts.
I started Karate Do in Middle School out of necessity because everyone in my class room was over 6 feet tall, and me to this day I am 5´6. I grew in an area where apparently there are no short men. I got A LOT of practice in Karate Do back in both Middle School and High School, guys were always trying to pick on me.
There were no other guys 5´6 in either Middle School or High School, so I would get in a fight every single week at school. That actually served me as practice, and helped me win medals at tournaments, I had too much real-life experience.
I'm not Asian, I'm not tall, and I don't have a ripped body, so I rather not tell people what I do at nights because I don't like people calling me a liar when I tell them about my martial arts background.
What's a is a person who practices martial arts is supposed to look like?
