whats a good way to remove nail polish from shirts?

I got a brand new shirt and I was so excited because I had been wanting it FOREVER! And then I spilt nailpolish on it. It's not too much, it's only two little dots. Is here a good way to get it out? I already tried nailpolish remover and it's still on the shirt.
 
Soak it in hot water and laundry detergent for 25 min. Scrub the spots with a wash cloth then soak the shirt for another 25 min. Scrub once more then wash and dry on normal.
