I'm a trumpet player, but I just bought a used tenor. It came with a plastic mouthpiece that seems to work ok, but it has a crack where it fits together with the neck of the saxophone. I trumpet has the standard Bach 7c that's kind of a great starting point for just about everyone to begin playing. Is there a similar "standard" for saxophone mouthpieces that's kind of middle of the road? The only thing I'm pretty sure about is I don't think I need a metal mouthpiece.
what's a good tenor sax mouthpiece?
