Whats a good starter bike?

Hi guys iam looking to buy a bike and was wondering what would be a good starter bike. Now iam more to the sport side of things i had a ninja 250 for awhile and it was relly nice and very forgiving but had to sell for money reasons. Now iam looking to get one again..iam thinking maby ard a 650 or so i dont want nothing to crazy but something that has some spunk..I race 4 whellers 450r and up so iam no stranger to power but dont want a killer bike either LOL thanks
