What's a good starter bike that can accommodate a tall (6'5") rider?

I'm looking for a bike that I can buy for a starter bike. I've ridden bikes before and I know how to ride, but I'm looking for recommendations for a bike that will comfortably fit a tall guy. I am looking for a bike that is in the 500 - 800 cc range. Any bike recommendations will do.
 
I'd say a tall dual sport would be a good fit. I was just on trader.ca (maybe trader.com in the US) and 2008 KLR650's were available lightly used for under 5K.

Lots of dual sports available from other makes.
