a Droid? I say "Alltel, not Verizon", because right now, there's a difference.
I'm currently paying for my phone through my family's plan, still, for something like $54/mo., which includes texting and a (minimal) data plan, because of the smartphone I currently have. Reason it's so cheap is because we got 'grandfathered in' from a plan that we've had for years, now; even the people at Alltel told us not to drop this plan, because it's the best we'll ever get, so I can't really switch services or anything. I'm stuck with Alltel, which is fine by me.
Back in October, my car was rear-ended and my phone went flying into the dashboard and sorta-kinda-broke. It works, but the speaker goes fuzzy sometimes, the screen protector slid off, the back panel is loose, and the keyboard is a little wonky (some of the keys stick, now).
That was an HTC Touch Pro that I'd had for about 8 months.
Now, I went into Verizon (I thought they were the same company, now, but apparently not) to see about getting a Droid phone, which would be sweet because I use all that Google stuff online already, so syncing up would be a snap, not to mention setting appointments and alarms and such (which I NEED a smartphone for, period) is easy to do on the spot - my current HTC Touch Pro requires navigating through a couple menus and filling out more fields than should be necessary, so it's really not worth setting up appointments on the spot - basically, I take cards or notes and sync my phone up when I get home, which defeats most of the purpose of having a smartphone, anyway.
Apparently, Droids are Verizon - not Alltel - only. Because my plan is with Alltel, I would need to change to a more expensive Verizon plan, which I'm not willing to do, because my current plan is awesome.
So, the Droid is out of the question now, apparently.
Now, I'm looking for a good Smartphone through Alltel.
What's a good one for me to get that's easy to use, functional in other ways, not flimsy, has a keyboard, and isn't a pain to set up appointments/calendar events on, or sync up? What I hate the most about this HTC Touch Pro currently is that I seem to have to fill out an inordinate amount of fields for new events/contacts/etc on it. I'd like something that's a bit more straightforward.
