What's a good health insurance plan for a pre-exisitng condition?

I was diagnosed with stage 1 thyroid cancer in Oct. 2009 and lost my insurance after my first round of radiation and body scan. I live in Nevada and I'm about to gain insurance through my new employer. So which do I choose: an HMO plan with a low deductible of $200, $71 monthly premium, co-pay unknown? OR a PPO with a high deductible of $1500, $50 monthly premium, co-pay also unknown however, the company will contribute $750/yr on this plan? I understand that insurance has a waiting period of 1 year before it will cover my pre-existing condition. With no such thing as job security, is it worth it to have this high deductible plan? I have estimated that as a cash patient, I will be spending at least $3000 this coming year in endocrine lab and Dr. visits alone and will be unable to afford my already past due body scan(which is very pricey). My "out of pocket expenses would not go towards anything Cancer related", is this a true statement?. Insurance seems to be extremely tricky. Anyone knowledgeable in Health Insurance PLUS CANCER to reply would be most appreciated.
