Whats a good book for me to read?

I like books that are sad, that have a twist..
for example, I loved my sisters keeper and the lovely bones.. I like there to be some drama.. I was wondering what book you think would be good to read.

I';m currently reading Willow by Julia Hoban and im going to finsih it but I dont like it, the main character is getting on my nerves with her self mutilating pitty..
 
Have you read Jane Eyre, or Tess of the D'Urbervilles? Tess has all those elements...so does Jane Eyre. They're classics, and often set aside in favor of more contemporary pieces. Of the two, I recall having found Tess to be the more powerful. As a matter of fact, a certain point arrived in the novel where I could read no more, it was so upsetting to. It wasn't until many years later that I actually finished it.
