Whatever Happened to Kevin Williamson

Whatever happened to Kevin Williamson?

Back in the late 90's, I was convinced this guy was going places with his writing technique and ability to bring old genres back into the modern day with Scream, Scream 2, I Know What You Did Last Summer and The Faculty, all of which had excellent scripts. He also resurrected the Teen Drama TV Genre with Dawson's Creek which also had red-hot writing.

What happened? Do you think he peaked too soon or is he just living off his millions now so doesn't feel the need to pen any more innovative scripts, Movie wise?

I was/am a fan but I'm fed up waiting for new material from him.

His writing was usually teen-orientated wasn't it; perhaps he hasn't done anything lately because there's no longer a market for late 90s style teen-slasher films. Having said that he did revive the genre with Scream so I doubt his scripts or input would ever be turned down.

Thinking about it, Wes Craven (reminded of him as obviously he directed Scream et al) has been quiet lately too - apart from the brief segment in Paris, je t'aime I can't remember the last film he did.

Redy Eye in 2005 (director), The Hills Have Eyes I & II (producer) as well as a couple of others. He's got a couple of other films coming out in the next couple of years (The Last House on the Left & Shocker).

Perhaps that is the problem, when you look at his CV all I see is teen angst and horror. It has had its day way back in the 90's, which I have to say was when he wrote his only innovative script - Scream.
