What would you say the best lens for portrait for photography?

there is also a question similar but i have bought a Nikon D300, i also have a 18-200mm lens but i was wondering if there are some more experienced people out there that could help me gander for the perfect studio portrait lens. My friend said something about a prime lens, just about to read into them, again price is not an issue
