I found this ad on my local Craigslist:

Vehicle: 1994 Honda Prelude 2.2 L 2156 CC L4
VIN: JHMBA8244RC002431

Mileage: 251000

Second owner. Bought the car from an older couple and have owned since 2002. Extremely well kept up and looks great. Mileage is mostly highway and all prior years have been owned and operated in Rhode Island. We just moved to Vermont and are looking at buying a new car. Would recommend as a first car or someone trying to postpone buying a new one. We have recently bought two snow tires and replaced the solenoid and starter after experiencing our first Vermont winter. Brand new battery and new body work to the rear of the car after a fender bender. Left side window is missing due to a break in. Needs new left CV Joint and new exhaust for inspection. Serious inquires please email.

They are asking $650 which I think is RIDICULOUS for a car that is 15 years old, and is very "needy". Not to mention I have never seen a car with more miles, except for a Subaru once.

I would like to offer them $350 for it. Is this reasonable? I think this is more than fair. A new muffler is like $200.

Not sure how much a passenger window and CV joint is. Please share if you have an estimate.

The $350 is a moe than fair offer considering that a new axle will set you back at least 300 and the window will be at least 100.

I wouldn't give more than $100 for it. It is at the stage of becoming a "money pit" very soon. The window should be about $30 at a wrecking yard and the CV joint would be about $100 installed.

I would offer what ever the blue book value is on the car. With that many miles and years , it cannot be much at all. Check out Kelly Blue Book
