What would you do in this situation involving work?

I hadn't seen a coworker of mine for a week as she was on a week's vacation.
She's the coworker who I get along with best at my job.
Tonight was her second day back.
I hadn't seen her the prior night because she got off before I started.
Me and her work in a big grocery store.
She's a cashier.
The moment I saw her, I came up to her and said, "Jeez what a messed up (I used the "F" word instead though) place to work."
Not long after after saying that, my store manager wanted to see me in the main office.
He told me that "some" customers heard what I said and were "concerned" about my frame of mind."
I told my store manager that was what I said but it was an inside conversation with my coworker and I was joking.
He then told me that I was suspended for this week without pay until further notice.
He told me he may call me tomorrow or that another management person will call me up as they have to "investigate" what happened.
I was never rude to a customer this evening.
I actually even helped customers find items, bagged groceries and had to put back unbought parishables and other items back to the right aisles at my job.
I was even busy collecting baskets for customers that were not by the main entrance.
He told me not to talk about what happened to any coworker and to not contact my union representative even though I am part of a union and pay union fees every month.
I called up that coworker who I made the comment to when she got home from work and she told me that the store manager didn't bother to talk to her about what happened.
I have been bullied and blackmailed by managers at my job.
I have also been made to stock diary and ice from the assistant store managers when those things are not part of my position.
My family doesn't know that I get messed with badly by management or by customers at my job.
I plan on contacting my union rep tomorrow morning as soon as I wake up.
It's ridiculous I got suspended without paying for making an inside comment to a coworker that had zero to do with any customers.
