What would you do in an expensive restaurant and a 1 year old?

is screaming. My husband and I are not rich, for our 20th anniversary we went to a very expensive restaurant....after we ordered a child that was about 1 year old started screaming, and I don't mean whining, we asked the waitress to do something about it after about 15 minutues, the parents of the child did NOTHING. We paid $175.00 for a dinner we did NOT enjoy, what would you have done, I wished I would have walked out and leaving should have said something to the parents, why not they were the ones being rude.

Bearing in mind this is what I would do, not what I think anyone else should do, but I would have complained to the restaurant. It's their responsibility to ensure that all their customers are happy, and sometime that includes speaking to parents of unruly children. If a group of people were being loud and rowdy they'd speak to them, wouldn't they?

I personally don't think restaurants, expensive or not, are the place for young children. Their behaviour is way too unpredictable and it's not fair on other diners.

Well, im not trying to mean but really its enough the mom of the had to give birth to a baby, plus i bet the mom her self did not enjoy the dinner her self! And IMAGINE the father there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so don't know complain oh you didn't enjoy your dinner, anyway you dont watch those movies with the not rich family going to an expensive restaurant and hearing the baby screaming??? WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST GO TO A PIZZERIA!!! OR GO TO THE MOVIES!!!!

hello people, we are talking about a 1 year old baby. So what if he was crying, you guys should be just a little more sensitive. As a parent I know that the situation could not have been any easier on the parents. Babies are known for having a meltdown at the most inconvenient times, but i don't think it would be right to ask the parents to leave the restaurant after all they were customers too.

My husband and I just discussed this. He would have asked the server for a new table. I say you should have asked the manager, not waitress, to speak to the couple and have one of them take the child outside until he/she is calm. Their food will still be there. I know if I would have thrown a tantrum my mother would have whisked me out of there immediately. That couple was incredibly inconsiderate. If they could afford an expensive meal, they could afford $20 bucks to have a neighborhood babysitter for a couple hours.
