14yr old. 2nd time I have caught him after he stole something. Before it was a mp3 player from grocery store which he had to work to raise the $ to payback the store, no cops were involved in that.
He currently does not have a bike because it was stolen and he said he stole it to get home quicker so he wouldnt be in trouble for being so late
He said he stole it from an alley behind the mexican restaurant.probably a works bike, it was kinda big.

Where did he steal if from?

If it was from a house...or if you know who he stole it from..I would make him return it with an apology note.

He would be grounded for 1 week maybe two weeks without any privileges (net, tv, music, etc) he would be doing all household chores during his sentence, and would write me an essay on why it is naughty to steal and why he did it.

Any further punishment would really depend if he was really sorry for the theft or not.

Juvenile hall may NOT be the best option.I have seen first hand how juvy actually encouraged kids to dig themselves a deeper hole by learning new things from those delinquents.
